1. Power facility - Gujarat is First Power Surplus State, DISCOMs of Gujarat have ranked as the top 4 on key operational and financial performance indicator.
   • Gujarat is the first state in India to achieve 100% electrification
   • Gujarat is providing 24*7 electricity access with lowest AT&C losses among other states.
   • It is the leading state in terms of per capita electricity consumption with 2,378 kWh which is double the National Average1181 kWh.
   • Being one of the most industrial states in India, Gujarat’s electricity demand has grown rapidly at a CAGR of 6.1% annually between FY2008/09 and FY2018/19.


2. Number of organizations have been formed both at the central and state Government levels to facilitate development of the power sector. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited was incorporated as a Government of Gujarat Company for restructuring of the state power sector for better management. GUVNL is engaged in the business of bulk purchase and sale of electricity, Supervision, Co-ordination and facilitation of the activities of its six subsidiary companies.

Gujarat government owned four companies and privately operated power distribution companies of Gujarat tops all India Integrated Rating and have secured A+ grade with the performance excellence which included key performance parameters like billing efficiency, collection efficiency, corporate governance, and approved distribution loss.

The DISCOMs have achieved 100 per cent rural electrification and the lowest non-agricultural T&D losses.
